Jessica Smith is an emerging artist who works with clay and ceramic processes. She lives and works on the Central Coast/Darkinjung Country, Australia.
Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in ceramics at the National Art School, Darlinghurst/Gadigal Country, Australia (2022). In the annual Bachelor Grad Show, she was the inaugural recipient of the Merran Esson Student Award. Selected works from The Grad Show have been exhibited in New Art 23 at Delmar Gallery and A Fresh Perspective at Lowe and Lee Gallery.
Smith achieved second place in the Shelley Simpson Ceramics Prize, Mud Australia (2022). She was also selected as a finalist by New York gallerists Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio for the 2022 ‘Emerging World Stage Exhibition’ featured at the biennial ceramics event ‘Clay Gulgong.’ In 2021, she was a finalist in the Gosford Ceramic Art Prize, at Gosford Regional Gallery.
